Cough Virus (Not Covid) - How long did fever last in children?

Both my little ones (aged 2 and 4) came down with a nasty cough exactly a week ago. Whole family has tested negative for covid.

Fevers on and off, worse at night, controlled by meds but have lasted 7 days so far. In the past have known fevers in the kids to last no more than 3/4days.

Will take them back to the doctors on Monday but wondering if anyones children are going through a similar virus where the fever has been lasting longer than usual.

Both have gunk coming out of their nose and eyes too and have barely eaten or touched any fluids - trying to do all we can to keep them hydrated.

I think DD had this - including eye gunk. Doctor has prescribed antibiotics but no one has actually examined her! I don't know the answer, but it is a really nasty virus ☹️

My DS is coming up too 2 weeks with very similar symptoms - he is good with fluids but has barely eaten for 2 weeks. I took him to GP Friday they checked him over and said nothing obvious wrong (slight ear infection in one ear). GP prescribed antibiotics if I promised I would wait till Monday too see if there is any improvement before giving them too him. I wanted to go and collect the medication yesterday DP said no you promised the GP. So I guess we're waiting till Monday to decide but I can't help but think it's cruel to wait the extra few days especially if he is the same by tomorrow.
