Anyone out there using Weenees? Advice needed

Fizzylemonade · 11/12/2007 17:47

Ok I confess, I am trying different brands of nappies and loving every minute of it

I am looking at the weenees but I am assuming that the foldable "nappy" just sits on top of the waterproof pouch. Do they fold a certain number of times?

Are they any good? I use berry plush which are poppered all in ones where the liner sits in the wrap but poppers in to keep it in place, but I also use bumgenuis which is a pocket nappy.

Any tales good or bad of these would be greatly appreciated. (my son is 18 months old if that makes any difference)

ooh, that's funny - was just about to start a thread on weenees...and there's already one here
am also interested in anyone's experiences of using them. am using pockets at the mo and dd2 is 23 months

theFlyingEvil · 11/12/2007 19:35

weenees are fab to use out and about (with the pads) and are v slimfitting - fold the cloth as many times as you think will make it fit. make sure you tuck it into the snibb though, don't just balance it on the top

coby · 11/12/2007 20:18

they are rather similar to the (surprisingly good) Mothercare Smart Nappies. Just looking at them both, the mothercare one looks like it might be a bit more leak proof as the gussets are deeper - will have to wait and see for the verdict though as the mothercare ones have only just come out.

I picked up some Weenees on freecycle and the woman who had them previously had found them to be very good - I think they look like Calvin Klein pants

Ooooh just found fab website that shows the inside of the nappy!!! It's natureschild.com if anyone is intrested.

I like the look of them, having a boy does mean you are limited as to what looks cool and yes I think they look like Calvin Klein pants too

I tend to pop ds2 into a disposable if I am going out for over 2 hours (hangs head in shame) just because he hates having his nappy changed and obviously I can leave him in a disposable for longer. So the thought of just replacing a pad is appealing.

Does it mean when I purchase the weenees that I need to get a pair of pants, a pouch and then the nappy liner things?

Fizzylemonade - by no means wanting to force you into getting some but I think I have two that I could spare you if you want to try some cheaply.

Would be interested to hear if people do manage to get away with just changing the pad on these and how leak proof they are yoo hoo theflyingevil where are you???? She's around somewhere I'm sure!

Fizzylemonade · 11/12/2007 22:44

Coby - that is a really lovely offer as I do think it really is a "nappy system" as opposed to just being able to try one nappy.

Have just looked at your profile and I am in West Yorkshire so quite a distance from your sunny coastal home (no no not jealous at all )

I do think I want to try them to see how easy they are, I am a very lazy girl.

TheFlyingEvil- give us more info please.

Well I have two plus inserts (I think) in my loft I got with a bundle of nappies cheaply. If you want them let me know (won't ask lots for them) if not, I shall keep them for DC3 so no pressure

nuru · 12/12/2007 09:50

if fizzylemonade doesn't want them coby, I might be interested

coby · 12/12/2007 12:02

OK Nuru, will have to make a trip up into the loft and see exactly what I have

Fizzylemonade · 12/12/2007 14:53

NOooooooo this is what happens when my broadband crashes!!!! I want them, I want them (jumps up and down like petulant child)

Maybe we could have one each to be fair? Pop into your loft Coby and let us know.

Fizzy now praying that broadband stays up and running.

theFlyingEvil · 12/12/2007 14:55

somebody call? as long as it is not a runny poo (sorry if TMI) then you are fine to just change the pad

coby · 12/12/2007 15:30

Right then, I shall go aloft into the loft () and see what I have for you. My DDs are poorly at the mo (hence why I've been on MN A LOT) but as soon as I can escape their clutches I'll investigate my nappy stashes

nuru · 12/12/2007 16:21

no worries fizzy - you definitely have first call on them. have as many as you want and I'll just pick up any leftovers

coby · 12/12/2007 16:27

I think I only have two...if had known thy would be that popular.......

Fizzylemonade · 12/12/2007 21:14

I have broadband again, who'd have thought the internet was such a lifeline.

As it is Christmas, I think if Coby has 2 then Nuru should get one and I should get one although I get first dibs at the colour.

Flying - did you use the folding nappy inserts or just the pads? You can talk about poo as much as like, it takes a lot to shock me after having 2 boys and a DH who was banned from using the word poo as a small boy so now goes into overdrive. I am sure that as ds1 takes after his father.

Fizzylemonade · 12/12/2007 21:16

Oh I appear to have missed a at the end of my "i get dibs at the colour" makes me sound arsey annoying

OP posts:
coby · 12/12/2007 21:27

just instructed hubby to go into the loft and see what we have - don't want to try myself, might get stuck in the hatch

nuru · 12/12/2007 21:37

don't worry fizzy, you're not sounding 'annoying' - I'd be the same if someone muscled in on something I was trying to buy.
just realised I got so excited at the thought of owning a weenees, that I forgot to check what size you have, coby (and also what colours) - oops

coby · 12/12/2007 22:03

just looking now as I wasn't too sure myself!

I have 2 x Size 2 (12-16Kg / 26-35lb). One is navy blue all over and the other is turquoise with a white top band. They aren't in brand new condition - a little bit bobbly round the inside of the waist band but nothing bad, I have nothing new to compare them with though. I have no ida what they are worth either. No inserts for them, I think the previous owner used prefolds with them

I also have (if you're interested)...

3 x snugglenap nappies

They are quite similar to the weenees but they don't have a pouch just an insert which poppers inside. Not tried them so I have no idea how good they are. I think they are a BTP no idea...

If neither of you want these there's no problem, I'm quite happy to hold onto them for trying out on one of my 'testers'

Fizzylemonade · 13/12/2007 09:32

Coby - the snugglenap ones sound like the berry plush I already use where its a wrap with a poppered in liner which are quite bulky.

So the weenees - do they have the poppered insert? I am looking to use prefolds inside the waterproof insert and pads when I am out and about.

OP posts:
coby · 13/12/2007 13:39

Both the weenees have the poppered in plastic insert which hold the prefold insert (does that make sense? ).

I haven't got any prefolds or pads to go inside the plastic bit.

Haven't tried berry plush so can't comment on the realtive bulkiness of the snugglenaps to those, but the snugglenaps don't seem all that bulky tbh - if you fold them in the same way a disposable is folded before you take it out of the pack it is about 1.25 - 1.5 inches thick max.

Fizzylemonade · 13/12/2007 20:30

Broadband playing up again, think I might have to resort to smoke signals

The berry plush are much thicker than the snugglenaps, I like the bumgenius pocket nappies better as they are velcro and very much like a disposable. Berry plush are poppered.

I would like to purchase the navy weenee if that is still ok with you. Let me know how much you want and how we do this.

OP posts:
coby · 13/12/2007 21:35

I thought everyone loved berry plush !

Of course you can have the weenees, not sure how much it is worth. £3.50???? honestly don't know.

email me (or send smoke signal) on jhkwilks at launcells dot co dot uk and we'll sort out payment methods and how much if you're not happy with the price

nuru do you want the other one? Don't worry of you don't, I shall instruct hubby to put it back in the loft with my many others

nuru · 13/12/2007 21:59

think I'll leave it for now, thanks. have just found out a friend has bought a couple so will see if I can borrow one for a trial

coby · 13/12/2007 22:08

no probs
