This age is all new to us! our eldest has started high school this time & at age 11 is becoming too old for the usual Christmas activities of a trip to see Santa. He has 2 younger siblings age 8 & 2 so we want to continue to do these things.
We often get, do I have to come or can he stay with friends etc for some of the trips out, not just Christmas.
We’re going to the circus for a Halloween show today and he’s said it again, I’m sure he will enjoy it once he’s there.
The main issue with Christmas is many of the days out are aimed at the younger ones. We will definitely still go to those and see Santa and he will tag along! And hopefully still enjoy some of it!
But I was looking for Any ideas what trips out others do that might be more fun for his age so we can do something another day that he might enjoy more.
I know he is growing up and wants to be with friends or on the PlayStation! And My aim is to try and find a balance of him having his own time but also some family time.
How much do you insist on them joining in these things, I mean I don’t want him to be miserable/bored doing them but also don’t want him to pull away so much we loose touch kinda thing. Think it’s important to have some family time at least now and then.
Although I guess he will want to spend more and more time with friends over us as he gets older!
Maybe I can just offer as he gets older & try and do some activities he might be interested in. And/or invite a friend along!
Any wise words or tips & ideas of places to go would be great!
Thankyou
