Please tell me it’s normal for a 7 month old to pinch my abs pull my hair?!

My 7 month old is so active, especially when feeding to the point where he grabs things like my hair, clothes, and anything around him. Constantly. Please tell me this is normal? I sometimes just feel battered.

Absolutely normal. This too will pass! He doesn't hate you.

NotSoSureFace · 28/10/2021 21:26

So normal, are they too big to swaddle?

FairyAnn · 28/10/2021 21:26

Yep sorry, totally normal! I was scratched and bruised all over Grin

Oh yes, totally normal. Fingers in eyes and fish hooks to the mouth when nursing them was the one that would drive me mad the most. Swaddling them helps (even big toddlers).

Absolutely normal. With dd I constantly removed her hand, even if that meant a hundred times a minute, she got quite frustrated but after a day or two learnt that it wasn't aloud.

Even now she likes to pinch for comfort but understands "Pinch your blanket if you need too." Not sure if that would work on a younger baby, but might be worth a shot.

Feeding my 7 month old right now and she’s tugging my hair very hard 😂

Her new fave is to stand up and use my hair as something to hold to balance herself

Ouch 😭

God yes. When I’m feeding my 10mo he’s forever pulling my hair, yanking my top, grabbing my hands, pressing his feet into me, pinching, poking, pulling. It’s maddening!

CoffeeMonkey · 28/10/2021 21:32

Totally get this, my 5.5 month old is the exact same, constantly nipping, swiping, kicking, grabbing, @Newmumlake I also feel completely battered & have just given up on today & went to bed in the hope I feel better tomorrow 🤞🏻🤞🏻

100% normal.

Unfortunately this falls into the category of 'things nobody ever tells you to expect when having a baby'...

Motherhood hurts! You get pinched, poked, yanked, pulled, sat on, trodden on, etc... It does, of course, get easier as they get older and understand "no"/"it hurts Mummy".

Poppins2016 · 28/10/2021 21:38

... oh and feeling battered or "touched out" is also completely normal... I think every mother experiences those feelings!

seaborgium · 28/10/2021 22:24

So normal. Keep his fingernails short and tie your hair back. Nurse to sleep for all naps and try to get him into the habit of taking lots of five minute catnaps instead of having longer naps. That way you’ll have more easy sleepy feeds and fewer frantic feeds with a distractible baby.
