For those of us being hammered by bugs

Hello

I wondered if we could have a general chat, handhold, tips thread for those of us being hammered by bugs just now.

I have two children, I also have fairly severe health anxiety focused on them.

We have had colds, chest infections, tonscilitis. Conjunctivitis, norovirus, poisoning, and that's just October.

They have a good diet. Im trying to continue groups etc. I've ordered sambucol on a friend recommended basis.

Any other tips.

Anxious. About children. Baby coughing but teething. Just feels relentless.

Feel like I have bug related trauma. Need to talk to someone I think. Just cannot catch a break. Feel like there's no hope or point in planning anything as someone will be unwell. Really getting to me.

Sorry, hijacking my children health thread with my own woes.

@stripetop I was just like that about a month ago, so I understand how you feel. It's hard because you are responsible for the DC and the illnesses cause so much anxiety. I literally broke down crying one day when I had norovirus along with my eldest who also had tonsillitis for the 3rd time since the beginning of September. My youngest also had 3 lots of antibiotics since September. I was exhausted with the lack of sleep and completely run down. I had to talk to my GP in the end.

I feel like anytime we do anything different a week later one will get ill. It really makes me think twice about what we do. Oldest is at preschool so is no doubt going to continue to bring home all sorts but I guess that's how it goes.

Have to have hope a corner will get turned sometime. We will get through this. Hope you will be ok. It's really, really tough.

Oh OP @stripetop that sounds so rough. My cousin in law sAid she had problems
With her scar opening up down the line too. Hope you can get it checked ASAP and issue resolved. Praying the medication kicks in quickly for you and things start feeling a bit better. It really is relentless and so many of us are in the same boat 😢

@stripetop that sounds horrible about your scar. I'd have it looked at, definitely. I have heard of this happening occasionally and there are things that can be done to help. And you don't want it to get infected. It doesn't help that you're so run down. Is the medication starting to help? I really hope you can start to feel better.

How are the kids? And how is everyone else going on?

My DS had a record 3 days at the childminder this week, before today coming down with something again today. Not sure what's going on now - he's totally off his food (again), got a mild temperature and says his back hurts. (Has anyone had that in their kids?) His snot has gone back to neon yellow colour. I'm so tired of this. I've realised his not eating is particularly freaking me out. He's not put on any weight in months, and he is a bit anaemic - I'm supposed to get calorific, iron-rich good into him, but am failing to get any food into him.

Aaah I needed to read this thread today. It’s been such a rough few weeks and my mental health is taking a real battering from the worry, sleep deprivation and trying to hold everything together. I’m trying to take each day as it comes but I’m so exhausted by it all and just want to see my children well again. I look so haggard!! Hopefully we’ll all see some good health again soon.

Hi everyone, how is everyone doing?
Since I last messaged my 4 year old now has an ear infection and on antibiotics again and my 2 year old has croup, both ill at the same the again. I've had terrible headaches from my covid booster jab, I'm exhausted. We had 3 clear weeks without any illness.
Hope everyone doing ok.

needtogetfit21 · 29/11/2021 22:32

@thebearandthemare @Chocolatetrifle sorry to hear you are both struggling too

@stripetop how are you?

Things have been better here, although my youngest has picked up a bug since he had Covid at end of October (and hasn't fully recovered from that). Lots of sambucol (10ml at least once a day) and calpol when required to get us through.
