Nappies all over the place after sickness bug

My 19mo got his first sickness bug last month, prior to that no issues at all with poo, went somewhere between every day and every two days no problem.

Following the sickness bug which was 6+ weeks ago he’s been all over the place, he didn’t poo for several days and cried when he did so we got lactulose from the pharmacy, this worked intermittently, some times he’d go everyday and other times we had a 4 day gap. He then got another sickness bug, and got over that about 10 days ago.

He is still on lactulose and he went everyday for 8+ days, we reduced it by 2.5ml (he was on 10ml a day) and everything has come to a stop, we’re on day 3 now with nothing. The doctors prescribed us movicol a few weeks ago if this happened again so we started that this evening.

He eats so much food, he eats lots of fruit, he drinks enough (not a lot but enough), he’s always on the go. I’m hoping movicol will sort things out now but I can’t believe how long this has gone on for, from going from no problems at all for 18 months to ongoing problems for 2 months now all from a sickness bug - has anyone else experienced anything similar?

Could he have developed secondary lactose intolerance? That can last a good few months. Perhaps try some coleif?
