Milton cold water steriliser

Hi all!

A quick question, we have recently changed sterilising methods from microwave to the Milton cold water method. With the microwave we would sterilise and then make the bottles (MAM) and then leave them in the cupboard until we needed them but with the Milton cold water method everywhere I have read you must leave the bottles in the steriliser and only get out and make when you need to use it (straight away) is this the case? If so how did you manage when you needed to go out for the day?
Thanks all

I didn't leave the bottles in the water until they were ready for use.
I would air dry them upside down on some paper towel and then put them in the cupboard. I did usually use them within 24 hours but I'm not sure that makes any difference.

I did prefer the cold water steriliser but I found leaving the bottles in the water for long periods removed all of the numbers etc from the bottle Hmm

We left everything in the bucket until use and then changed the water every morning.

If I was home i'd leave them in the water until needed. If we were going out i'd take what I needed out of the water to take out. Leaving them in the water was more of a laziness thing.

We have this. We leave them overnight to sterilise and then in the morning make them up and put them in the cupboard. I didn't even know we were supposed to keep them in the water and my DS is nearly 1 now!

Follow the instructions, which means leaving items in the sterilising solution until needed. I don't think it's worth taking shortcuts with sterilising, it's too important. When I go out with my twins, I take microwave sterilising bags by Medela with me. Medela and Tommee Tippee bags keep items sterile for 24hrs if the bag is unopened.

The midwife's in the hospital told me it was safe to leave them in the water all the time. Then just change water every 24hr and wait 15 mins before using after changing the liquid/tablet. That's what I've always done!! Kids still alive so far...
