7 month old suddenly not drinking milk or eating solids!!

Hi Everyone!

In the last week my LO has really gone off milk and solids. I think he may have some kind of tummy bug as he is also being sick anything from 3 times to 5 times a day. He was never a sicky baby before then. He generally seems quite happy in himself and is showing no other signs of a bug so it is baffling me a bit. I have been to the Docs and they prescribed infant gaviscon but would reflux suddenly just appear at 7 and a half months? He has been being sick for about a week and his solids and milk consumption have dwindled hugely in that time. I went to A&E on Monday as I am petrified of how little he is eating and they advised to put him on dioralyte for 24 hours and clear his system of milk so I did that and reintroduced milk again today but he has been sick again3 times :( and really doesnt want much milk at all! He was breastfeed with one formula bottle a day for the first 6 months and then has been purely formula fed for the last 6/7 weeks which had been going well, as well as three meals a day. He is only taking about 10 ounces of milk at most for the past few days. He has always been 9th centile so I have reached out to the HV to have him weighed as I do not want him to dip down to 2nd. He saw his cousin last week and she has a tummy bug so I am assuming it is that but my Mum suggested he could have become allergic to dairy potentially but he has been fine with formula and yogurt before this. Has anyone experienced anything like this? I just want him to eat properly again, it's like I'm trying to pour poison down his throat when I give him milk! He was never a huge eater so would have 20oz a day before this and the meals but has no interest in either now and hasn't for a week, I thought a bug would clear by now! He is losing all his lovely fat!! Any experience/advice would be great!

Have you tried ice lollies, ice cream, orange juice diluted, jelly?
The melty puff weaning snacks seem to go down well and the strawberries and apples Ella’s pouch.
They are not the best weaning foods but when you are desperate for them to eat and drink anything will do. My 14 month old went off all food except breastfeeding last week for about 4 days and she’s lost quite a bit of weight.

My LO (9 months) had what sounds like the same thing last week. Was vomiting for a couple of days but otherwise completely happy and well in herself in between - then off her food and her milk for about a week. Just persevered offering different things at each meal and trying to get her to sip milk and water in smaller amounts to not overwhelm her tummy. After about 10 days her appetite is now nearly back to normal but still fussy about some things. Think it can just take time to get their appetites back. Hope your bub feels better soon!

Please don't give orange juice or ice cream! just think if you had a sickness bug what would you want? a piece of toast and a tea (so maybe a really really really watered down milk or just a warm water), maybe progress to some roast chicken?
No harm in giving the milk a break for a while until the stomach has settled and all those acids are back to normal x
PS Apple sauce (cooked apples) and bananas are wonderful for delicate healing tummies - and cooked white rice x

Thanks so much ladies! He won't have any toast but has had a bit of apple purée and a few nibbles of a breadstick and a rusk! I am just panicking about him never wanting to eat again, he used to wolf down 6oz at 2pm and 4pm and can barely get 1 or 2 down him now, I will keep preserving and offering different things. It's so hard because you know that milk is what is best in terms of putting weight on him but I obviously don't want to force him. Also he did have some Hipp organic porridge this morning and seemed keen on that so questioning whether to give they to him for every meal!!!

Still really struggling with this, he seemed to get his appetite for milk and food back for about a week and now it's gone completely again since he got a cold. It's so horrible trying to force him to have any kind of food or drink :(
