How long does viral fevers last ?

Hi all, My DD(3 yrs)has fever reaching up to 39C for the last 3 days and comes down well after medication; but again goes back to the same temperature early morning. Her GP assured it’s viral as she hasn’t got any other symptoms and should clear up in 5 days. How long does it usually take to clear up ?

My DS gets viral fevers with every cough and cold that comes his way and it usually takes 5-6 days to pass, usually at it's worst on day 3 or 4. Calpol and children's nurofen usually keeps it under control. Hope your DD feels better soon.
