Final stop of breastfeeding?

Baby 10months. Got breast feeds down to just night time and last night she had no boob.

Decided that it was time to stop. We've gradually been dropping feeds over a few months alongside weaning onto solids.

At this stage, we were down to 1 feed in a 24hr period. Now it's been 48 hours. I suppose I just....stop? No expressing or anything? Or will I just be hugely uncomfortable?

Watching as I want to know exactly this as well

Is she having any formula to replace the BFs @GuruLuru?

ConfusedbyCovid · 25/10/2021 18:49

Yes, I just stopped each time this way. My body reacted and stopped making it. I think I had to do one small extra feed with one of mine as it was uncomfortable… but just to take the edge off.
Just make sure you don’t have any painful lumps which could lead to mastitis. I think you’d need to express and massage them out if that was the case.

If you were down to just one feed you should be fine to just stop 👍

@PanicBuyingSprouts yup she has formula/frozen boob milk after meals. Sue got THE most irritating feeder in the days I started swapping slowly for bottles instead. She spent her tinyself punching me. Pinching me. Dragging my nipple off my boob to look at nothing. Biting also became an issue!

@ConfusedbyCovid this was what I wondered. If it would be ouchy before it dried up. Feels odd..end of an era! But also freeing!

In that case then I'd just stop. Like others have said, just keep an eye out for lumps and rub abs express any away. If you don't get any lumps but are engorged, you can express a little got comfort.

If she's not fed for 48 hours though it sounds pretty much ad though you've done anyway Smile

I just stopped but like others said beware of lumps you might need to express a bit. I also had insomnia for a few nights after stopping which no-one tells you about
