My nearly 6 mo dd has never had a bedtime but usually went to sleep around 10pm and slept until 6/7am. We had been trying to move bedtime forward and managed to get it to 8pm with a wake up in the night but no feedings. Then dd got a cold and lost all form of routine including self settling… and now she has come out the other side of the cold, her sleep has gone haywire. Her naps are all over the place and she will only fall asleep at 8pm for 40-45mins and then will only settle on me and dh and will not be put down until about 11.30pm. This has been going on for 2 weeks and I am desperate to get some routine back with an earlier bed time. She is bottle fed and has had reduced feedings but they are picking back up again. Any tips, could she be over or under tired? How do you tell the difference? I let her sleep as long as she needs to in the day, should I be waking her from her nap in order to get more sleep at night? She’s started trying to lie in past 7am which is confusing as she’s always just automatically woke up at 7 regardless of what time she went to sleep. Not sure if I should wake her to try get her back into routine. Help!
