Six month old play?

Hi,

I've run out of things to do with my six month old!
Can anyone recommend how to entertain a baby this sort of age? I know there's resources online etc, but would love some real life tips!

Simple things....they don't really require 'entertaining' as such.
Giant cous cous in an old bottle worked well for ours
Pots & pans and a wooden spoon
Water in a bowl or a bath
'discovery' tray I. E random crap in a tray

Mine is in a baby carrier much of the day. It’s the only way to get anything done. When he’ll tolerate being put down I’ll sit him on the floor with a big pile of toys in front of him and a couple of cushions behind him.

He likes being sung to. I make silly noises like ‘bzzzzz’ and ‘neigh- hey-he-he’ and play good old Peekaboo. He loves being lifted high in the air. I will also lie on my back and hold him on top of my shins while I bounce him around. Another game involves holding him in a standing position, letting go slightly then catching him. I also sit him on the bed then push him over. When he’s naked I’ll pin him down on his back and tickle his tummy. He also enjoys sitting on Daddy’s shoulders and licking his bald patch. He loves going to new places and meeting new people, although a bit of stranger anxiety is starting to kick in.

His all-time favourite games are ‘pull mummy’s hair’ and ‘grab mummy’s glasses’.

Look up heuristic play and treasure baskets - basically a shallow basket that you fill with safe, interesting objects, different materials and textures, then you just sit back with a coffee and observe them exploring it, only intervening if they want you to.

I was always told repeating at this stage is so important so don't worry about them playing with the same toys. Mines now 10months. We got her some wooden blocks and stacking pots as her first toys and she still loves them. Uses them in different ways! I agree with encouraging them to just play alone a bit too.

Anything and everything at this stage!

@seaborgium. "He also enjoys sitting on Daddy’s shoulders and licking his bald patch."

Funniest thing ever!!

Singing songs and doing the actions together (the best you can)
Dancing with them in your arms
Pans and large spoons
Reading books
Peekaboo
Going outside and looking at the birds/trees/etc
Hand Puppets (doesn't have to be expensive)
Playing with water
