Worried about a rash, what could it be?

Hey,

Yesterday morning we noticed our DD had quite a bad rash all around the nappy area. Lots of little red spots, a bit like heat rash. We thought maybe it was because she tried some nappies that she doesn’t wear. That night we gave her a quick wash and about an hour later noticed she was covered in the same spots (though a lot lighter and smaller) all over her body!

We called 111 and they took details, said they’d call back last night but still haven’t. Does anyone know what this could possibly be or sound like?

Thank you!

Are there any on hands or feet or around her mouth?
Could be hand foot and mouth

Can you post a pic? Is it not miliaria which is prickly heat/heat rash? Could happen because baby is hot and because of sweat build up...

I'd assume heat rash or a reaction to the new nappies.

Does it seem to be bothering her?

No there’s nothing on her face at all. A few little spots on her hands but not many at all x

Here’s a photo of her arm and leg which are a lot lighter and smaller. It could be something to do with heat as she had a bit of a temperature a few days ago x

I thought that too but it’s all over her body now where the nappy hasn’t been x

That looks like heat rash. If she had a temperature it could be viral. Is she ok in herself? X

Seeline · 21/10/2021 11:04

I assume you've done the glass test?

IF she had a temp a few day ago, it's possible that she had a mild virus, and now has a post viral rash. They are very common. Does she seem well otherwise?

HeidiHaus · 21/10/2021 11:14

Could be mildish dose of chicken pox?

Harri87 · 21/10/2021 11:17

Thanks for your replies guys! Yes she’s totally fine in herself! I’ve done the glass test too and that’s all good. Sounds like it could be that then as she did have a temperature x

Do you wrap her quite warm? My daughter had it on her back and the back of her head and shoulders. I don't make her wear a bodysuit anymore or a sleepsuit at night because she's a 'hot' baby. Let her skin breath for a few days and bath her in plain water (no baby wash). Hopefully it goes away. Don't put oils or creams on her either.

Yeah she does get quite sweaty when she sleeps so we always just put a grow on and no layers. Did you daughters just come on suddenly? Just trying to work out why it’s suddenly happened all over her body x

Roseola? (A kind of post viral rash)
