Hi all....
Not sure what I want from this post really.
My DD was born at 7lb 6oz, but has since not stoppes growing she is now over 99th percentile for height and just under it for weight.
I just worried about her size really. I've already had to start buying 3 year old clothes.
I worry I'm feeding her the right things but then think as she is so tall her weight is ok. She doesn't look over weight etc.

What centiles was she at 3 months? My health visitor told me that birth weight is only a good indication of how effective your placenta was and how much room they had to grow, rather than where they'll end up, but by 3 months they should be more 'themselves' iyswim.

She was over the 90th centile for both.
I've had a chat with the health visitor (never seen one due to covid) and she said due to her being on a similar centile for both they wouldn't be worried about her.

What are you and your family like? If you're all tall then I wouldnt worry.

My 19mo is 95-97 centile since he was born. Currently about 86/87 cm (won’t stand bloody still to measure) weighs 2st 2lb and wears size 2-3 clothes

DS is 90th+ for both height and weight but he really slowed down with the weight after about 2.5 and he's been pretty steady since then despite getting taller. He looked big at 18 months now I look back at photos but is very lean now.

Similar boat with my (slightly younger DS). Agree with both your HV and advice above re: weight and height at 3-6 months being more ‘telling’. Was she BF? BF babies often pile on the weight initially - DS went from 25th to 97th centile by 6 months. Crucially he’s remained on the 97th centile and not continued gaining exponentially with solids. Secondly, he’s also very tall, roughly 90th centile, so near as damn it they balance out. It would be more concerning to have a toddler who was 25th centile for height and 95th for weight, IYSWIM

Thank you for all your replies.
I'm 5'5 (and half) my husband is 6'3 so we think she must be taking after him !
I just want to give her the best start in life with food etc.

My DN has always been in the 98th for both. Now a slim 6ft teen and carries it well. I wouldn't worry if she's in proportion and following her centiles.

Opalfeet · 21/10/2021 08:37

If her height is 99th I wouldn't worry about weight. My 1.5 year old is 90th for weight and 50th for height, has been 90th since he was ebf..I'm not worried
