12 month old still not babbling

Hi everyone, I had contacted my HV back in August when my little boy was 10 months because he wasn’t babbling, clapping or waving. She said because he was engaging with me and interacting with her then it’s nothing to worry about and he will get there in his own time. However, he is now 12 months and still not babbling. Should I be worried?(because I am! V anxious mother) my friend has a 6 month old who has just started to babble ga ga etc so I can’t help but think something is wrong.

He also won’t clap or wave. Seems to understand me when I say snack, bottle, up, bubbles.

Everytime I put it in to google all I say is ‘red flag’ for autism.

Any thoughts appreciated thank you xx

If you're not happy with what HV says then speak to your GP

All children develop at different stages but you must have some idea of where he should be at from seeing other children at baby groups etc so speak up even if only for reassurance.

I wouldn't worry about autism at this stage but I would speak to your HV again because they should recommend a hearing test just to be sure. It can be different
Frequencies that they can't quite hear properly that stop them babbling. Hopefully it's just baby doing things in their own time :)

Mine didnt talk until like 2...my god come see him now... my brain will explode some days if i dont get 5 mins of silence

If he does everything else normally for the age i wouldnt worry x
