Play pens

What are your thoughts on play pens? I have twins recently 1year old and I think a play pen would be very hand when I'm home alone with them, for peace of mind of their safety and just to make things easier to manage. Again only when I'm home alone with them. But my mum thinks it's a horrible thing to do, my dad clearly not wanting to take sides stayed very diplomatic and tried to pretend to fall asleep. Am I wrong for wanting one?

Does it really matter what your mum thinks? If she’s there then she can keep an eye on them. If she’s not, then it’s really none of her business. If you think it would be easier for you then I think there’s your answer.

There was quite a long thread on this a few days ago www.mumsnet.com/Talk/parenting/4375193-play-pens-aren-t-popular-anymore

I wouldn’t use one personally but each to their own 🤷‍♀️ Why does it matter what others think?

We have one, I’m a huge fan. Never used one first time round - we did stick DC1 in the travel cot when showering. But second time round, we bought one - mainly to keep DC2 out of DC1’s stuff - and it’s been brilliant. We use it more as a room divider now but it’s been really useful for when I’m cooking (as I can’t see the kids from the kitchen).

Have a look for the model you’re interested in on eBay, they’re not cheap and are often available second hand and lightly used.

Thanks guys that's been really insightful! I wasn't expecting such fast responses for this but going through that link and reading other comments has answered a few issues I had thought of SmileGrin
