Help - Have I tried potty training too early?

Started potty training dd who is 28 months. she woke up on Sat morning and refused to wear a nappy and wanted knickers.

Yesturday we had 4 accidents (including wee in the bath which she doesn't normally do) and no wees on the loo or potty (also refuses potty), but a poo on the loo - as I caught the signs and took her to the loo.

We did use the star chart and gave her a star for the poo yesturday which she was very proud of.

Today she keeps going to sit on the loo and does all the actions incl cleaning hands but just wee'd in kitchen.

Also her nappy this morning was so full it had leaked, so I think only 3 wees in day and very full nappy says she is holding on.

It is almost like she doesn't want to wee into the toilet and really holds on until she can't hold it in anymore. She doesn't seem too concerned that she has just weed herself either.

Have we started too early?
Any advice?

It does sound relatively although not extraordinarily early to me.

You could wait a few more weeks and try again.

If she's really keen and it's not upsetting her then I'd give it a bit longer for it to click. If she is capable of holding on then she might be able to do it.
If she starts to get upset or you can see it really isn't working then I'd go back to nappies for a while.

Juule sounds like sound advice. We took her into nursery in knickers because she insisted and she had two accidents, although did poo in the loo. Amazingly when she got home she did 2 wees, however DH thinks she was still holding back a little. I think it just may take her a bit of time.

If we take it at a slow pace and go with nappies or knickers depending on her request will we confuse her or will we be building her confidence?
