My DS is 5 1/2 months and we'll be starting soon so just wondered: what's the first food you introduced to your baby?

I have an older DS and I believe it was avocado but I don't think I can properly remember.

Baby rice

First child - purees

Second child - first meal was bits of roast beef and and yorkshire pudding. We didn't do any purees or baby food with her at all, Just proper food as either spoon food or finger food.

She is an amazing eater and first child is an awful fussy eater.

Probably baby rice.
I weaned my dc at a time when some advice/HCPs were saying to start at 6 months. Some were still saying 4 months so it was rather confusing. Both said purees/baby rice though. Grin

DD1 had baby porridge. Was guided by a dietician due to extreme reflux. 17 weeks, and was the first ‘meal’ she ever kept down.

DD2 is almost ten weeks. This morning DD1 kissed her in her bouncy chair with breakfast still on her face. I turned around to see DD2 licking residual yoghurt from around her mouth and waving her arms excitedly.

New rule: wipe face BEFORE getting down from the table.

@olderthanyouthink I'm not sure what bothers her as she eats some weird textures with no issue. She was formula fed from being a few weeks old and wouldn't eat purée for a long time then suddenly would.

She thankfully started eating pasta a couple of months ago so at least she eats that once or twice a day. She won't eat meat apart from the odd bit of ham, won't eat any foods that are mixed together, won't have dairy except grated cheese which she eats bowls and bowls of. I just wish she'd try more, especially dairy. My DP and I are lactose intolerant so I'm hoping she's not.

We did veg led weaning - I follow SR Nutrition on Instagram and found her really helpful.

First food was broccoli - I did a mixture of purée and some finger food of different veg for a bit but quickly gave up on purées as she preferred the finger food.

Baby rice and breast milk for ds1, on the advice of the consultant. He was a micro preemie who needed extensive surgery to reconstruct his bowel though.
Ds2 was apple purée and cooked carrot sticks.
Dd2 was accidentally mashed potato that ds2 helpfully Hmmshoved in her mouth.

Puréed carrot here. He was 6 months. Then just continued to do a mix of purées, ready brek, finger food and whatever we were having for dinner. I loved weaning him. I bought an Annabel Karmel cookbook and he gobbled up everything. Then he hit 18 months and suddenly became fussy 😂
