My first baby…her first cold is this normal?

Hi,

I have a 7 month old.
She cut 2 teeth at the same time with no issues whatsoever (no sore bum, no grumpiness, no cold/fever etc).
We had dentist last week who said her top teeth are coming next and to keep an eye - because she could already see them there.

Today baby has had a snotty nose, but no temp above 37.2
She has played but isn’t really herself. Not eaten much today either, shows off if I try to offer her more than a few mouthfuls of solids or milk.
She sounds congested, so I have given her Calpol saline spray. She hated it!!
Anyway she keeps rubbing her eyes… like really rubbing her eyes. They aren’t red, aren’t gunky, but they are watering. And when I changed her nappy she didn’t want to open them, I assume as the light was on above her?

Anyway is watery eyes normal?

Does this sound like the start of a cold or new teething symptoms?

Also possibly overreacting …
She tried egg for the first time yesterday (scrambled) … she loved it. No rash etc but could this be a reaction to that?

First time mum, in absolute panic! Hate seeing her unwell, she’s normally so bouncy and smiley, and I can see she’s really tried today but she’s really not herself (but irritable).

Thank you in advance x

Her eyes might be itchy, I used to bathe my DDs eyes with cooled boiled water and cotton wool pads.
The first time they get ill is scary but what you have described sounds normal. Keep an eye on temperature and alertness levels though.

Snuffle babe on the soles of her feet

I get itchy/watery eyes when I have a cold - not sure why but I always have! She also could have had disturbed sleep with her snotty nose so is rubbing her eyes because she’s tired.

It all sounds totally normal, but it’s horrible seeing your baby under the weather for the first time.

Calpol plug ins are very helpful for decongestant or a couple of drops of baby olbas oil in a bowl of boiling water (well out of reach).

Cleaning her eyes with cooled boiled water and cotton wool is a great idea by previous poster.
Watery eyes sound normal with a cold.
It won’t be a reaction to the egg, don’t worry x

It all sounds fairly normal to me. I’d assume she’s rubbing her eyes because she’s tired. Colds are horrible when they’re so little, hope she gets over it quickly.
Have you got a snot sucker to help with the congestion? Gross but does help them massively. The calpol vapour plug ins are good too.

Thank you x I have some snuffle baby vapour oil so have a couple drops of that in water on her side of the room x
