8 week old won’t look or smile at Dad

My OH is trying so hard with our little 8 week old but is starting to get a complex as everytime he tries to get eye contact from him, our son looks away. He has had a few smiles out of him but not many and is becoming very disheartened. He notices that our son follows where I am when I come in the room and I do get a lot of smiles which is lovely but I am really feeling for my partner right now. I know that this is probably completely normal as I am with our boy all day everyday while daddy has to go out to work. I have tried to reassure him of this too and told him to persist with him. I guess I just want a bit of reassurance that this has happened to others and not just us. Any advice would be appreciated too. We’ve made bath time son and daddy time and he feeds him his bottle / changes him etc. as much as he can when he’s home in the evenings and weekends.

Perfectly normal and it will come. Definitely persevere with DF/DS time.

I'd also get him to have a couple of hours together at the weekend where he takes him out.

It takes time for babies to recognise others it will come though. Tell dad it's baby not him Smile

So so normal.
My 17 week old will often look away from my other half and definitely smiles more for me
