Hello (again!!) I've posted a few times now regarding breastfeeding and always feel so supported by all the lovely comments so hoping someone may be able to help me on this!
My DD (3.5 months old) is EBF and has been since birth. Recently when feeding, particularly later in the day/night feeds, she stops breathing briefly whilst feeding!! It's really hard to describe what happens but I'll try, because it's really frightening me and making me worry!!
She'll be feeding perfectly well, and starts to get sleepy - but isn't asleep as she's still feeding. Almost like she's on autopilot! Then she'll pull off and gulp, and gulp, and gulp without breathing - her eyes will spring open and you can almost see her panicking because she hasn't taken a breath. Then she'll take one and start to cry because obviously freaked her out. I'm also panicking usually whilst this is happening and holding her upright trying to help her out!! The whole thing can't last that long, but at the time it terrifies me!!
Has anyone else experienced this!? She doesn't do it with every feed, tends to be those ones where she's more lethargic or falls asleep at the breast (although again I'm not sure if she actually is asleep asleep as she does still feed).
Thank you!! I wish breastfeeding wasn't so bloody stressful!!
