Is this normal baby poo (TMI warning photo attached)

This is my first baby and I’ve never changed another baby’s nappy. Is this normal? She’s EBF and 3/4 months old. Is seems quite liquidy to me? It’s also sort of stringy when you first unfold the nappy if that makes sense - there are no visible strings after that. All her poops are like this. She is very unsettled and I’m currently dairy free but I’m wondering if she’s allergic to egg or something else. She had no skin problems like eczema or anything.

I'm my opinion this is normal enough. Is she gaining a bit of weight and it's generally well?

Needingsupportplease · 06/10/2021 17:39

Looks pretty mucousy have you got a HV drop in near you that you could go to? I took mine when she was little to have her weighed and whilst there I showed them a picture of her poo they told me to ring GP but was nice to speak to a HV first to not waste gp time x

She’s gaining weight and well physically but screams/ cries an incredible amount and is very gassy.

It’s very mucousy. Is it always like that? Did removing dairy help at all? I would consider removing soya for 6 weeks and seeing if that helps?

Peaplant20 · 06/10/2021 18:53

Yeah it’s always like that. Dairy made no difference whatsoever! Should it be less gooey?

Have you always been dairy free op? My lb had mucusy baby poo which improved once I cut out cows milk and he started having gaviscon! I believe it takes around 6 weeks for it to be completely remove from breast milk!

Looks normal to me.

My baby's poo went like this after the rotavirus oral vaccination. It was very smelly too.

jevoudrais · 06/10/2021 19:04

It looks a bit too mucousy to me. If that was one poo after not going for a couple of days I'd be less bothered, but if all poos are like that I would speak to GP probably. Hard to explain but my DD who was also EBF, her poo never spread quite that far unless it was a bad one or poonami situation, but regular poos were better contained and a bit more liquidy but not mucousy.

justsmallpotatoes · 06/10/2021 19:06

I know a baby who just had this and more watery from a virus.

Peaplant20 · 06/10/2021 20:41

Yes been dairy free for well over 6 weeks now so should all be out of my system. Rota virus vaccine was also over 5 weeks ago now too. She’s been checked over several times because of how much she cries and no sign of a virus or temperature. Will call the gp again tomorrow.

I'd try egg/soya free too, OP. It does look very mucusy and if that's common for her then I'd be thinking about an intolerance too if she's also crying and upset a lot.
