Buggy/Pushchair Bag Advice for Flight

Hi,

We are going to be going away for the first time with our 2 month old baby next week and we are planning to take a pushchair with us. I want to put it in a bag for going in the hold - does anyone have any recommendations?

Also i have seen people mention that they have padded theirs out with nappies/clothes inside the buggy bag. Do the airport staff ever look inside or check as i would i have thought that wasn't allowed?

Thanks :)

They don’t look inside.

We just took car seat and travel cot as hold items. Car seat was in travel bag and I just added cotton bag for life inside full up with nappies/ muslin cloths etc.
I put pillow and sleeping bag stuffed inside travel cot bag.

We took babyzen yo-yo pram on board as hand luggage no issues to get around the two free baby items ( we needed all three)

If you want to take the baby in the buggy to the gate, you won’t be able to pack clothes etc in the bag. I never tried it for this reason.

What buggy do you have - we had a Bee so got the Bee specific bag which was very neat. However in later years we stopped bothering with the bag and the buggy survived just fine anyway!

@Caspianberg thank you. With the buggy going on as hand luggage was that as your 'piece of hand luggage' ie you couldn't take a cabin bag on for yourself as well as the buggy?

@minipie we were going to carry her through the airport in our carrier. We are actually looking for a second-hand buggy atmo to take instead of our larger travel system. I will take a look at the Bee's :)

@winnie3838 - we flew BA who actually give adults and infants full luggage allowance even if on lap. So dh, myself and Ds could take up to x3 suitcase hand luggage type and x3 handbag type.
We didn’t want to take more hand luggage than needed as had Ds to carry etc so just took baby zen yo-yo and x2 rucksacks. Also took reusable cotton shopping bag to pile all coats/ blankets in if not needed and that could either fold tiny if not used or hang on pram handle

I’ve always order nappies to boots airside and then put them inside the buggy bag.

I think I read somewhere that nothing inside is insured if lost. So as long as it’s just low value bulk ie nappies it’s not a problem.

My mum gave Ds a load of second hand duplo to bring home which replaced the nappies and went in bag inside car seat bag homebound
