Hi all,
I'm a little stuck on what to get my baby for Christmas, she will be 8 months. This is my first child and in the first year of life babies change so much and I'm not sure what her capabilities should be by then so what is worth buying.

Those that can remember or have any ideas. What should I get my 8 month baby for Christmas? Smile

My baby was a bit younger than yours but she got so much from family members - especially clothes she never wore - some of it broke my heart to give it away unused a couple of months later!

How about a book or two, and festive baby grow/ outfit?

Books are a lovely idea or how about an annual pass to a local attraction like a children's farm or zoo?

My first was around 8 months on their first Christmas and we bought him something very much like this. It was very plastic and very colourful and he obviously loved it Grin. We wanted something that would encourage him to stand and it did seem to help Smile

Nothing, would be my 1st guess. She'll be 8m.

Alternatively maybe a merino baby pram lining (not sure what is the correct description, like a footmuff but for the whole baby). Maybe merino sleeping bag? Some cute Christmas clothing with name on for lovely photos?

Or as said books would be great. Building blocks maybe, both wooden and rubber depending on the baby's liking.

My DD13 was 7 months on her 1st Christmas. She got a ball that rolled to helped with crawling, a Teddy bear called Violet (V tech I think) and a little mini mouse ride on car. They were all bought in Smyths.

Books like "that's not my..." Are really good, some come with soft toys if you're able to find them. A cute festive outfit, if she has a favourite show maybe get her toys related to that show that are interactive. I would have a look at little tykes and fisher price ones where they have buttons or shapes that fit in holes. My DD favourite toy is this vtech baby laptop that plays different songs, shapes and animals.
Tunnels and ball pits too!

Mine got stuff that they were going to need that year or stuff for their room:
Skip Hop backpack and snack pot for nursery
Swim ring
Moredig night light projector
Money box
Wooden height chart
Personalised bamboo dinner set and cutlery set
Beatrix potter egg cup
Doll’s house book case

Grandparents got her a swing that starts low with a toddler seat, but can be raised and adapted with a normal swing seat.

I went far too overboard when DD was little. Be mindful that babies and toddlers don't 'get' christmas until they are about 3 yrs old. For young tots it's quite an overwhelming time so maybe a nice cuddle toy, or some cause and effect toys (does ELC still exist?) but don't get too much. Maybe start a collection of keepsake books to read to your child as they get older and buy one a year, illustrated Narnia or Alice in Wonderland etc.
A pass to a local zoo or similar place that your DC likes to go.

-A Christmas book? Or just a classic book. Or a bath book? Start adding to their library.
-Cute outfit for the photo op.
-I got mine all a cuddly toy dog that later became their favourites around their first bday/Christmas.
-bath toys.

My little one will be 7 months and I'm putting some money into a building society for him. Boring but he won't know anything that's going on so seems pointless buying him anything. Plus he'll get gifts from relatives anyway Smile
