Breastfeeding question-is this normal?

One of my boobs doesn’t fill completely when my milk comes in. It feels full with milk round about half of it. I have a small lump behind the nipple on that breast which I showed the doc a couple of months ago when I noticed it/it appeared and she said she wasn’t at all worried about as it would be milk related and didn’t feel hard. I went back last week and am now due to get this breast checked at the hospital but am getting paranoid that the lack of filling with milk on this boob could be an ominous sign. Have other people had this? There is no tenderness and this boob has always produced less milk (baby now 10 months old).

Hi, I’m a mindful breastfeeding supporter and doula.

It doesn’t sound concerning to me- now your milk has settled down it can be normal for breasts to feel quite empty and one more so than the other, it’s no indication of how much milk is in there.

You do right to get the lump checked though if it’s playing on your mind though I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about.

Sounds normal, mine don't fill the same way.

My boobs feel soft most of the time, a little more full if DS has had a longer gap between feeds, and only hard ish when he's skipped a feed.
Try not to worry you're doing the right thing getting checked.

Thanks guys. It’s more that the boob in question gets partly hard but part stays soft if that makes sense rather than the difference between the two breasts.

Yeah, my right one does that. Gets a hard patch on the top, the rest of it doesn't change at all. I never even questioned it, boobs are sisters now twins, they won't do things exactly the same.

Oh thanks @Garman. Puts my mind at rest a bit.
