Ok reception aged children, so around 4 years old, been at the school a couple of weeks.
A boy touched a girls privates in the playground. No skirts where lifted etc, it was through trousers.
I am very upset with this incident, messages went out to both sets of parents. Little girl was upset over the incident.
Is this a normal thing to do at this age?

It can be normal. It can also be a sign of abuse and it should have triggered a safe guarding concern. I recommend reading under pants rule books.

So it could be a normal kid thing?

Absolutely it is verytypical behaviour. If you Google the Brook traffic light tool, that's a really good tool to indicate age appropriate behaviours vs those that should cause concern
