Is it normal for HV to just not turn up?

Just as the title says really.
Its happened 3 times now. I had to take time off work too for the appointment.
I've tried calling and no answer.

I'd kick the shit right off. Ring up and complain. Sorry I probably haven't been very helpful. X

Yup. We had the enhanced 'service' because DD was premature, so we had HV and midwife most days for about 2 weeks but invariably one or other wouldn't turn up on the day they'd said. I got the impression they just expected you to be in all day every day with a young baby, so to them it didn't matter what day or time they came.

HV and Midwife never missed an appointment. They always gave me a rough idea (morning / afternoon) then would text me that morning to narrow down the time to a two hour window.

DD was born prematurely at 34 weeks last Dec and only weighed 4lb and they did call out more frequently than normal to weigh her to make sure she was gaining enough weight.

I was meant to have enhanced visits due to my dd being premeture. They called to make appointments but never showed. She's 12 years old now so I guess they won't be coming round to weigh her!

Yep! I’m still waiting for a response to a voicemail and follow up text I sent in February

Never had a no show but lots of appointments rearranged last minute, showing up late/ early which is annoying, agree with PP it seems like they just expect you to be home all the time with a baby… but yet mine always seem to ask if we’re getting out & about, going to classes, having visitors etc 🤔🤔

Thanks for your messages back.
I'm glad it's not just us then, with my first I never had an issue but this time it's a nightmare! Even worse as he's supposed to be weighed at least once a month. Confused

Mine turned up an hour later twice, seemed put out that I wasn't there. Explained I have to pick up dd1 from nursery. Last visit, about 3 months ago, she didnt turn up, no message and has not been in touch since.

My HV has been great - always gives a date and time for an appointment. If she’s even going to be 10 minutes late she calls or texts to apologise.

Midwife after giving birth was NOT like that at all. Expected me to be in the house 24/7 for 2 weeks after giving birth. One day she turned up at 7.30am 😐 I had literally been up all night cluster feeding our baby and was asleep when she arrived. The midwife had a rant about how I wasn’t ready for her coming when DH answered the door 🙄 other days she turned up at 5/5.30pm.
