Alpro oat growing up milk - anyone know where to buy?

So my little girl has Milk and soya allergy.

She’s just turned one and is having prescribed nutramigen - which she doesn’t like very much and also formula is a phaff and expensive to the nhs so I’d rather give an alternative.

I spoke to the dietician who said alpro now do a growing up oat milk which would be appropriate for her to have as her milk substitute but I can’t find it anywhere?

Just wondering if anyone else out there has managed to buy it?!

Thanks

Apparently it’s available in Sainsbury. I haven’t tried it get.

What is in which is better than Barista? Alpro tends to be very high in sugar.

newboe · 05/10/2021 16:06

Following! My little girls has the alpro soya but I'd be keen to swap her to the oat one!

newboe · 05/10/2021 16:12

@Fallagain I use alpro and I know the growing up versions are fortified.

I just checked and the oat version doesn't seem to have any added sugar (2.5g/100ml of natural sugars) which is less than cows milk!

Correct me if I'm being really daft but I think that's correct

The oatly barista doesn’t have enough iodine until they are >2 years old.

I can only seem to find the soya growing up milk in sainsburys?!

I have seen it in sainsbury and tesco. In both shops it is with the long life milk/plant drinks rather than with the baby things.

dementedpixie · 05/10/2021 16:30

I've only ever seen soya stuff

hauntedvagina · 05/10/2021 16:31

My DS had Oatly Barista from age one. You can offer a vitamin supplement that contains iodine if you're concerned or just look for iodine rich foods.

If the oat one has a monkey on it, then I saw it in Sainsbury's. My DD is 7 and still likes the soya one, despite having no remaining intolerance to dairy! But they definitely had the oat version when I last went.

Twizbe · 05/10/2021 16:35

I've seen it in my local big Sainsbury's. I've not looked in the smaller one.

My kids have the soya one. My daughter wanted to try the 'monkey milk' but wasn't that keen. My son (the one with the allergy) flatly refuses to drink anything but alpro soya 🤦‍♀️

Wagglerock · 05/10/2021 16:37

I've seen it in both big Sainsbury's and big Tesco but not in the smaller ones.

hauntedvagina · 05/10/2021 16:39

I'd query with you nutritionist if the fat content is high enough if the Alpro version compared to Oatly barista.

hoping2018 · 05/10/2021 18:41

Thanks guys. Very helpful. I couldn’t see it on their websites but I’ll go in and see if I have more success.

@hauntedvagina it’s specially designed to meet all their nutritional needs so fat content is fine (this is what dietician said!)

Our Tesco used to do it

hauntedvagina · 05/10/2021 18:47

If you struggle to get hold of it, have a quick look at the nutrition contents of some of the other oat milks available, oat milks are not cheap so it worth investigating and having a good look at what you're paying for.

Choosea · 05/10/2021 18:56

We mainly get ours from Morrisons, but have never had problem finding it in Tesco or Sainsbury's.
You could ask your shop if they could order it in?

Brokenrecord3006 · 05/10/2021 20:53

We've been using this for a few years for DS and have never struggled to find it. We get it at Tesco, Asda, Morrisons or Waitrose. Occasionally it will go out of stock but we've always managed to get it elsewhere.

BirdyBee · 05/10/2021 20:57

Tescos and asda sell it, I got 4 cartons of it today.

Notbluepeter · 16/12/2021 18:33

@hoping2018 did you ever find this? My son is allergic to CMP and soy. But I can't find this anywhere !

hoping2018 · 16/12/2021 18:37

The big sainsburys near us had it! But not very much so I buy up all their stock whenever I go. We get Tesco deliveries and they never have it so is a bit hard to find but it does exist!

You can also buy it from Ocado, just in case you haven't looked there.

lastandfurious · 16/12/2021 18:47

I work in Waitrose and we stock the soya version of this (found with the long life/dairy free milk). We are quite a small store so you should be able to get it in most branches

Notbluepeter · 16/12/2021 18:47

Thank you! It's a relief to know it's not a wild goose chase Grin and the resolve to call some bigger stores tomorrow
