Besides all the usual toys/clothes/book presents I want to do something like plant a tree and watch it grow alongside my child. My only worry for this is we are thinking about moving in a couple of years so would be pointless planting this in our current garden… does anyone have any other ideas that may work along the lines of this please?
Thought about a letter or video but don’t love it as much as planting a tree. Thank you.

Could you just plant a tree in a big pot and take it with you when you move?

My mother buys all her great grand children a hard bound classic book for their birthdays. Even when little , they appreciated the gift and the thought and the books are all lined up on a ‘special’ shelf in their bedrooms. I’m in charge of the purchasing and stick to Penguin Cloth bound classics (they are hard back books).
One GD was bought a rose bush when she was born but it was left behind when they moved house a year or two later.

Another choice would be a charm bracelet and you buy a charm every year
