I’ve coslept and ebf all 4 of mine. They’re all different. My 8 year old was forcibly weaned at 18 months when I went away with work for a week but still comes into my bed every night. My 5 year old self weaned about 10 months when she discovered real food was much better than milk and a biscuit before bed a million times more awesome than boob, and went in her own bed happily at the same time. My 18 month old weaned when my milk dried up at 9 months and went in his own bed recently. Tho he is now waking up in the middle of the night thirsty and waking himself up so I think I’d rather have him back in bed with me tbh. I’m back at work and so I think milk will dry up for my 4 month old in a couple of months. So depends on little one really, and whether you like feeding and the closeness (I do) or not. If they’re a complete boob monster the only way to stop is for milk to dry up or for you to exit yourself. (I find it’s impossible to have them in bed and refuse to feed.)

We do roughly 3 or 4 feeds but definitely not all night. I couldn't handle that.

My Ds is 2 and still feeding through the night, he's usually up about 4-5 times. I bring him into our bed once he wakes after we are asleep because I'm lazy, which probably makes it all worse but my resolve fails me at 1am

Ah yes my baby is 8 months old and still does this.

Hope54321 · 03/10/2021 20:17

He doesn’t really feed all night, just likes to stay latched on,

Baby is 10 months old and still wakes anything from 3-10 times a night for milk. Exhausting but normal. My first son did the same and only moved into his own room at 3 years. He was forcibly weaned at 2 when I went into hospital (he was only having one feed before bed by that point but still waking a lot for cuddles.) He still wakes a few times a night if I'm honest but DH deals with that as I'm co-sleeping with the new one.

Currently cosleeping and ebfing DS2, did the same for DS1.

No they don’t feed all night. The only time DS1 did feed all night was before we realised he had CMPA and was uncomfortable so needed it for comfort rather than hunger.

DS2 feeds every few hours ish.

👋

Hi, yeah I do sleep with my daughter of 7 months. She's gone through periods (like days) where it feels like she is on me all night, but for the most part I probably feed her 3-5 times between 9pm and 6:30

Learnthroughplay3 · 04/10/2021 10:25

Thankyou so much for all your replies, @FTEngineerM really interested that your baby fed for comfort because of cmpa I hadn't realised breastfed babies can have this my baby has been so uncomfortable since birth in so much pain but health visitor was insistent was silent reflux, I do think he is breastfeeding for comfort not hunger, my older 2 chikdren did breastfeed alot through the night but this baby doesn't latch off, if I take my boob out of mouth he frantically cries
