Bathing baby

How often do you / did you bath your 6 month old baby? And it you now bath them every day, when did that start? And if you have now stopped doing that, when did it stop?

Everyday as part of a bed time routine, but in a baby bath for a long time to save water. I have an 18 month old now and still bathing him every night, but also have 12 and 10 year old boys who are quite frankly, shower dodgers! Probably stopped doing nightly baths about aged 5 and went to every other.

LaBellina · 02/10/2021 10:31

Every day before bed time, he’s 2 now and still takes a shower every evening.

wombatspoopcubes · 02/10/2021 10:32

Once a week. Would love to bathe her more often-she loves it- but she has very severe eczema so we can't without her skin splitting.

My 6mo and 2yo bath around 3/4 times a week. Or more if they're dirty from food, paints, muddy puddles etc
I did bath my 1yo every night as part of bed time routine but I don't think it needs to be done personally Smile

orangejuicer · 02/10/2021 10:34

Generally every 3 days. We've recently moved to every other day now DS is a bit older (almost 3).

Vicky1989x · 02/10/2021 10:36

I bathe my 17 month old every night (she likes to rub food in her hair Smile).. I started doing it every night around 4/5 months when I was establishing a bedtime routine.

idontlikealdi · 02/10/2021 10:46

Once a week, they never relaxed dts just wound them up and they had exczema. I just washed the obviously grubby bits and milk cheese in their necks.

starrynight21 · 02/10/2021 10:46

Every day, always. Mostly in the evening as part of their bedtime routine, but for a while I also bathed them in the morning when their wee was particularly strong . That was around 12 months, when they were sleeping all night and getting very smelly nappies .They loved it .

MarshmallowsOnToast · 02/10/2021 10:47

It's not part of our bedtime routine & never has been so every 2/3 days is fine for us.

DS is 16 months and doesn't really love a bath so we don't push it.

Well I lie, he loves throwing water out the bath but absolutely hates having his hair washed!

Caspianberg · 02/10/2021 10:49

About once a week the first 6 months as skin would get very dry. Proper flannel wash on butt at every change though.

Now he’s a year he gets probably twice a week minimum, but depends on whether he’s put food or suncream in hair so could be daily if needed

elizzza · 02/10/2021 10:55

Once a week-ish - basically as needed, would stick them in if they’d done a particularly bad poo or got covered in soup or whatever.

Kids are now 4 and 2 and we do the same. Always been baffled by “bedtime routines” to be honest - our “routine” is pyjamas on, clean teeth, get into bed.

user1471481356 · 02/10/2021 10:56

About once a week or so. Still about the same with my 4 year old. Sometimes more often is he’s filthy. Sometimes less often if we’re busy.

Wagglerock · 02/10/2021 11:09

Depends what they've been eating/doing. DD has had 4 baths this week so far because she keeps putting her dinner in her hair, normally its 3-4 times a week.

canyoutoleratethis · 02/10/2021 11:34

I don’t understand why people bath babies everyday, as it really isn’t good for their skin. Anyway, up until we started weaning, I bathed my DD once a week, and didn’t bath her at all until she was 5-weeks. She’s 7-months now and as we’re doing baby-led, it can get very messy so I sometimes have to pop her into the shower after a meal. I still try and limit baths as much as possible though, as I believe it’s healthy for kids to get mucky. I never use any products either - just water. But each to their own!

Timeturnerplease · 02/10/2021 12:24

Every evening from a week old as part of their bedtime routine. DD1 is 2.10 so doesn’t need it now as part of the wind down, but is generally filthy every day so actually needs to be hosed down. Hair only washed once every three days now though, unless it’s visibly matted.

DD2 however doesn’t get very dirty at all (eight weeks old) BUT won’t do her long stretch of night sleep without a warm bath first.

Chelyanne · 02/10/2021 14:17

Young baby once a week or when needed (poosplosions or severe vomiting).
Once they are weaning I'd bath more frequently but as needed, could be a couple of times a week or daily. Older kids bath or shower every other day most of the time but sometimes daily (like if using suncream daily or got muddy on an outing).

LakeShoreD · 02/10/2021 14:23

Daily. Weaning is messy and omg the nursery smell. He really enjoys it and then goes to sleep wonderfully afterwards so I’d feel a bit mean skipping it!

MeadowHay · 02/10/2021 14:25

Once a week, another baby with eczema here. GP was happy with that. We would occasionally do it more often if necessary obviously e.g. swimming, messy play, really messy meals or whatnot. Moved to twice a week a couple of months ago, they are now 3. Purely because their hair was starting to get really mucky and greasy and now needs a mid-week wash.

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 02/10/2021 14:27

Every day, still do at 13 months. She gets very grubby so needs washing though we don't really use products. But I like to have a bath most nights anyway so she just comes in with me.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 02/10/2021 14:31

Every day as initially it was something to break up the boredom of mat leave ! As he started to wean it was necessary as food in hair etc! He's 7 now and such a mucky pup most days he walks out if school looking like a chimney sweep , shower Every night

Oreoreo · 02/10/2021 20:21

This is ours too Grin DD gets bathed once a week, no bedtime routine other than pyjamas, teeth and into bed. Tbh she’s a whirlwind and wouldn’t stand for a story or lullaby lol! She just wants to go into bed and play with her teddy before she falls asleep!

ofwarren · 02/10/2021 20:28

2-3 times a week, unless there was a poonami and I would give them a bath after that.

Sprogonthetyne · 02/10/2021 20:56

My kids get baths 2-3 times a week depending on what we've been doing and how grimey they seem. From about 6 months (when she could sit up reliably) baby started going in with her older brother, so moved to his schedule. Before that it was more often, but only in the sink.

Paris2019 · 03/10/2021 12:02
