Would you recommend the Tula toddler carrier?

My 18 month old boy has started to really kick up a fuss when going in his buggy. He likes to be carried in front of me, forward facing so I need to get a new sling!

I've had a quick search online and the Tula toddler carrier looks good - has anyone else got one? Is it easy to put your toddler in and out, can they be forward facing and does it score well on safety standards (I think some slings are better than others for children's hips?)

Are there any other brands that are worth a look too?

Thanks!

It’s easy to use and we use it a lot for back carrying. If used properly it’s very safe. But it’s not designed for forward facing carrying. It specifies it shouldn’t be used for this. Wether this is due to the actual design of it, or the fact forward facing carrying isn’t recommended when DC is > 10 kg for any sling, I don’t know.

But it’s not designed for forward facing carrying.

That’s a shame - sounds like it won’t work for us then! Does anyone know of a good toddler sling that can be used forward facing?

I don't think there is one. And I think it would be very uncomfortable. Have you tried a nice high back carry?

Oh and for back carry and inwards facing front carry the toddler Tula is indeed amazing

I don't think carrying a toddler facing outwards would be at all comfortable - the centre of gravity would be all wrong. DS1 used to like going on my front (facing inwards) until he was about 2.5 and just turned his head when he wanted to see. DS2 has preferred back carries since about 2 (now rarely goes in the sling at 3.5). I have a Connecta (now called Integra) but I know lots of people who like Tulas.

I think past a certain age front carrying would be uncomfortable due to gravity.
A back carry maybe?
I have a Integra carrier which you can back carry in
I haven't used that function yet as dd is only 16 weeks but it's a fab carrier

Agree with PP. Unless you have a particularly tiny toddler (in which case you can use a normal Tula/something similar), front facing carrying wouldn’t be recommended. My DS has always disliked facing inwards, so when he was too heavy to forward face we changed to a high back carry.

My husband uses the Tula explore forward facing (it's the only one in the Tula range designed for ff) to carry my 18mo but I'll be honest and say he is too big to use it that way. I've done a lot of searching and can't find any forward facing carriers that are designed for older children :( the Tulas are great for inward facing and back carrying though if you want a carrier :)
