Pram bumper bar

Hi all,

I’m due my first child soon and have kindly been gifted a bugaboo chameleon pram. It has all accessories apart from the bumper bar.

Is it worth buying one? They seem quite expensive! I’ve considered getting a toy arch instead while the baby is still in the bassinet but if I’ll end up buying a bumper bar when they’re older anyway I may as well invest in one now.

Any advice appreciated, tia!

Is the bumper bar the bit that goes over the front to stop them falling out? If so, I barely used ours, strapping him in did the job. But I'd just wait and see, if you need one then buy one later down the line but don't try and guess whether you'll need it.

I never needed one on my pushchair

I haven't got a bumper bar on any of my buggies (I have never understood the purpose of one) so I wouldn't rush out to replace it if it is an expensive item.

I wouldn’t worry about getting one, my DS has bitten chunks out of the one on our pushchair so we don’t use it anymore 🤦🏻‍♀️

I liked it on mine as it’s something for them to hold onto when they get a bit bigger and are sitting up but if they are expensive then I wouldn’t worry about it it’s not essential

Mine adored hers - from five months would pull forward using it and sit herself bolt upright staring at the world.

Less useful when you’re trying to wrestle an angry toddler in though.
