When did your little ones stop drinking their milk?
My 2 and a half year old has suddenly refused his morning and bedtime milk for the last 3 days... he always looked forward to his milk, especially the bedtime one!!!!!

What's the problem? Some children don't drink cows milk at all.

When mine was little I worried about this as she refused it at a similar age. MN wisdom advised me to think about milk based products generally, eg yoghurt, porridge, cereal, cheese etc for the calcium intake, so not to base it all on drinking milk. And as pp points out, many children do not have milk in any form.

Mine have never stopped drinking milk. They are 17 and 14 now and I swear it would be cheaper to buy my own cow to milk than it is buying the gallons they drink.

My brothers dc on the other hand never drink milk. They are 7, 5 and 4. As long as your dc is getting calcium then he's fine.

Just wondering at roughly what age do they grow out of their morning and bedtime milk! With my son it was all of a sudden... he couldn't wait for his morning milk and then come bedtime refused it completely!! Am worried he won't be getting enough calcium, so will need to increase cheese, yoghurt etc

DS1 still has pink milk with his breakfast and before bed.
DS2 is more of a "when he's in the mood" milk drinker.

IME of children I have known over the years most seem to drop the bedtime milk when they stop having bottles or being breastfed.

Mine hasn't drunk milk since he was 13 months. He is now 11 and alive. They don't need milk.
Mine didn't like the taste or feel. We tried chocolate milk, hot milk, cold milk etc. but he just doesn't like it.
There are other ways of getting the nutrients in.

Is he happily drinking other liquids? Sometimes an ear infection can put them off swallowing liquids

My daughter has never wanted cows milk to drink but dropped her morning breastfeed at that age. The bedtime one lasted another year but not every night. From the age of one she was having cows milk on her cereal and enough cheese and yoghurt to have plenty of calcium.
