What brands do your teen DS wear?

Hey, so just a quick one really, I want to buy my nephew a tracksuit for Christmas, but not really sure on which brands are 'in' right now for his age group (13)? I've seen either Nike or Adidas ones I like but I don't want to spend nearly £50 if it's not one he'll enjoy wearing.

  • I know I could ask him but I don't want to make it obvious what I'm buying him.
  • I couldn't give a toss about trends etc but I remember how brutal kids can be and my nephew doesn't have much in regards to designer etc so wanted to get him something a bit nicer!
  • Budget is around the £50 mark as that's how much I've spent on his brothers and sisters.

TIA x

Nicce hoodies are popular with my 13yr old and his friends. Should cost about £50.

I think you'd struggle to get a full Adidas or Nike tracksuit for £50 for that age.

Oh ok thank you @Grapesoda7
I have got a set in my basket but I'll have a little look around first!
I forgot all about Nicce!

That's a good price and a nice tracksuit

Can you not ask his parents ? I have two teens slightly older but both like different brands
One is more addidas , nike , north face
The other calvin klein , tommy hilfger , north face and gymking , kings will dream. Although will wear some addidas nike as well but has to be more specific
Either way def get a receipt as teens can be fussy

worriedatthemoment · 28/09/2021 14:13

Tbf nike and addidas seem to be worn by many still even those that like some of the more expensive brands

whichonethisorthat · 28/09/2021 14:16

@Grapesoda7 I thought so too for the price, wanted to grab a bargain but thought I'd check on here before 😂

@worriedatthemoment I could ask my DSis but she's too polite and will just tell me to buy anything 😂 I was thinking about north face etc but yes, maybe I'll leave it until nearer the time and then I can return it if he isn't keen! Thank you!

Nike is a good brand for kids - not seen as either chavvy or pretentious, crosses most boundaries and acceptable for most teens.
Only thing I would say is Nike sizing can be crazy. Make sure you can return for a different size, if for example that one you have a picture of is too big (unless your relative is big for their age, I think Nike kids trousers crazy big, especially around the waist).

whichonethisorthat · 28/09/2021 14:22

Ahhh ok @bigoff thank you for the advice! I know my DH is in all different sizes with Nike because the sizing is so 'off' so handy to know it's the same with the younger sizes too!

They all seem to love North Face stuff.

TheLovelinessOfDemons · 28/09/2021 14:25

He's not into brands honestly. Ask his parents?

Jumpingintosummer · 28/09/2021 14:26

Ask your DSis what size he is in Nike first. It’s a lovely set but depending on height DS was out of boys age 12.

Fluffypastelslippers · 28/09/2021 14:28

Unless he is small for age you need to be careful. 13 will usually be to fit 12-13 rather than 13-14

whichonethisorthat · 28/09/2021 14:34

Thank you everyone for your advice!
In all honesty my sister can't afford to buy him branded clothes so she wouldn't know what size he is in Nike for example. He is quite tall though so maybe the Nike one isn't the right one! I can't even buy him some nice trainers as his feet are constantly growing 😂

Give him a JD sports voucher

furbabymama87 · 28/09/2021 16:29

I'd go for Under Armour.

furbabymama87 · 28/09/2021 16:30

My son is 13 and is in small men's, if it helps.

BBOA · 28/09/2021 16:37

Not sure full tracksuits are ‘in’ so much now. Best bet is a hoody…Adidas, Nike etc. And oversized! Northface good too though expensive. Recall my DS going through a Hollister stage, but that was uncool by 12.

whichonethisorthat · 28/09/2021 18:31

Oh really @BBOA ? I remember him once saying he'd love to have a matching tracksuit but that was quite a while ago Blush hmm, maybe a more expensive hoodie then!
Thank you so much for everyone's help! If I don't find the right thing I'll just get a voucher/gift card Smile

Why not take him shopping to JD for example, on his birthday, tell him how much he can go up to and let him pick. Saves you having to guess sizes and picking out something he may not like.

whichonethisorthat · 28/09/2021 19:25

@Iluvfriends that's a good idea! This present is for Christmas but his birthday is just after so I could do that for then ☺️ thank you!
