Age 12 - 24 months, as a SAHM what should I be doing with my child?

Not sure if it sounds stupid but I just wondered what I should be doing with my child for the next year? I would hate to hinder her development in any way. At present, the core part of her day is spent playing with toys which she doesn't really seem to enjoy. What should I be doing for the next 12 months?

I spent hours reading with them at that age. Visits to the library, and sometimes I pointed at words as we read . I also used to take them to interesting places and chat a lot, and meet friends with young children.

DS never liked toys and I had to remove him from nursery as he hated it so much , he enjoyed simple dot to dots and cooking with me, and climbing (lots of playground time/ indoor play centres were a hit)

I'm sure you will do just fine! Mine likes her toys but I only have a limited number out at one time and rotate them weekly ish so it's like having new toys as they're not out all the time. Mines nearly 2 and has recently got into make making - drawing, paint sticks, washable pens etc. I also take her to unstructured playgroups/soft play to burn off energy. Lots of walks and park trips. Basically just talk to her lots and read with her and she'll be fine!
