Car seat help for older kids

My DS is 8 YO. He is 140cm tall. (For context, I am 155cm tall Hmm). He currently has a high back booster seat, but has been complaining for a while it's tight/narrow.

According to Gov.UK he can legally travel without any car seat based on his height. We can take the back off his current seat, so it is just the cushion/seat. But I would prefer him to have a high back booster.

Is there such a thing as a high back booster for kids bigger than 135cm? Probably asking for the impossible here as well, but ideally I'd like one that ISN'T isofix, so I can easily swap it between family cars.

Can anyone offer me any assistance please?

Car seats are generally only for under 140cm because afterwards they are safer straight on the seat. Look up the statistics yourself. Car seats are to make it safer for humans too small for the built in restraints

Isn't the height limit for car seats in other countries higher than the UK? I'm aware in some places, the height limit is 150cm.

DS2 is now just over 140 (but he's 10).
We took him out of the hbb last week because he complained after a long journey of being squished.
He is on a booster cushion in my car. Nothing in DH's car.
Have a Google of the "5 step test" for carseats. DS is not big enough for no seat in my car. His brother has only really just stopped using the booster at 150ish cm.

Thanks for this. I've just had a look at this, so will see how he fits tomorrow after school.

The alarming thing I've discovered out of all my googling today is my 6YO is also tall enough to come out of the high back seat and have just the booster cushion. He is almost 130cm.

Why are my kids so flipping tall?!
