Son's ears

We have a 3 year old and we've noticed that sometimes his ears look really waxy / dirty.

I wash them whenever he has a bath using my fingers and soap or shampoo (bath night 3 times a week). Then sometimes we add a few drops of olive oil before bed (we do this about once a week).

Is there anything we are missing here? How do you look after your young child's ears?

I always had really waxy ears as a kid. My mum said it meant that I was healthy!
in my 20's I occasionally got blocked ears and once had them syringed at the Dr (it was so nice)
Now I just clean with a bud (not recommended)

Id say do your best with a flannel and when he is older he can do it.
