Hi all,

I might sound stupid. My LO current 7 weeks, they're 8 weeks on Sunday and currently full of cold, can I give them calpol when LO 8 weeks on the Sunday or wait until the 1st October as they was born on 1st august. As I always get it mixed up haha. As I don't like seen them like this, they're so restless, mardy and cuddling then seems to be the only thing to work I have Serline nose spray and some vapour oil but I'm not sure if there is anything else I can do to help them with this cold if they cannot have the calpol until next week.

Thank you

You are allowed to give calpol after the 8 week injections to keep their temperature down so it probably should be ok but I would get in touch with your HV to double check

Have they got a temp? If not I wouldn't be keen on giving such a young baby medication.
If they do have a temp they should be seen by GP as under 2 months and they'll weigh them and let you know if and how much calpol is appropriate

How big are they? If they're a fairly decent size, then I'd go for it earlier. If they're a tiny thing, I'd wait longer.

Have you double checked the vapour oil is suitable for babies under 3 months? I would ring the gp for advice re. Calpol, and have a very low threshold for getting them seen, any temp they need to be seen by someone when they’re that tiny xxx
