What should 10 month old wear on feet??

DS is 10 months, crawling and pulling up to standing. He's been barefoot all summer, but now I'm wondering what babies are meant to wear on they're feet at this stage?? I thought no shoes til he's walking but just socks wouldn't be practical on slippy floors?

Get some socks with grips.

PersianStar · 21/09/2021 21:10

We have socks with rubbery dots/stars on the bottom. Seems to help on our wooden floor but he prefers to be barefoot at the minute so rips them off and just carries on anyway.

I stuck with nothing at all for as long as possible. If they're indoors or on grass or a smooth surface, barefoot is way better, I think. He'll not be cold if he's got enough clothes on the rest of him.

We used socks with grippy bits too - ours were from John Lewis. At some point, we progressed onto slipper-type shoes for indoors.

Socks with grips if it's really cold, and moccasin type shoes (e.g. Dotty Fish) for outside at nursery. But mostly bare feet.

womaninatightspot · 21/09/2021 21:16

Mocc ons or the cheaper verions, socks but with a leather sole. Not waterproof but you could get away with walking over damp sand/ grass. Good for the garden in the colder months.

Mine wears… nothing. He pulls socks off and don’t fancy losing any more. Footmuff on the pram and that’s that.

sexesam · 21/09/2021 21:17

Inside or our garden it was grippy socks or bear feet. Outside in the park we used moccasins.

MaverickDanger · 21/09/2021 21:18

DS is 8 months old and cruising etc. We’re keeping him barefoot as long as possible.

NotReallyAPrincess · 21/09/2021 21:21

I got some waterproof booties (from Jojo Maman Bebe), because I used a sling a lot and needed a foot covering when the weather got cooler. Tried to keep DS barefoot as much as possible though. Socks with grips are probably good for wooden floors indoors.

These!

Warm, soft and flexible but with good grip

Nothing at home. If out and about I liked grippy socks or little leather soled shoes like robeez.

GiantCheeseMonster · 21/09/2021 21:29

Inch blue shoes are good - they’re basically leather booties but they give them a little bit of protection.

Goldbar · 21/09/2021 21:34

Moccasin-type shoes. Get some waterproof shoe covers for winter so they can crawl about outside in the park and woods.

Goldbar · 21/09/2021 21:35

Playshoes or Togz ones are good.

doradoo · 21/09/2021 21:36

I'm in Germany and they have tights with grippy soles and knees here for crawling/cruising - come in 'boy' styles and colours too - they can't get them off! Wink

DontPeeInThePlayHouse · 21/09/2021 21:37

I got mine corduroy padders off eBay until they were ready for actually shoes.

Bare feet for as long as possible. If his feet are cold, socks with grippy dots are best. He shouldn’t wear shoes until he’s walking confidently outside.

These are great recommendations!
I've just ordered the Dotty Fish slippers for my toddler twins.

lannistunut · 22/09/2021 06:57

Grippy socks.

Shoes too early are bad for foot development.
