Cough in 10month old

Obviously I’m on hold trying to get through to 111 for “proper” advice (we’re at 95 minutes so far).

Baby had a cold 2/3 weeks ago - snotty, congested etc but he got completely better from that. I caught it from him. Felt horrendous and had a cough with it so I had PCR test just incase and was negative.
Over the weekend he’s been teething pretty badly (poor wee thing has 4 top teeth cutting through at the same time). He’s had a runny nose along with more drool than I’ve ever seen 😅
Started coughing last night, but it was definitely a cough whenever he had lots of snot etc going on. Seems to be coughing more this afternoon, but again, very snotty and wet sounding. It’s definitely sounding wet in his throat rather than his chest. Snot and drool still on another level 😓

Does this sound typical of a bad teething episode? I keep reading online about “teething cough”. He’s otherwise well - normal temperature, not off his milk or food, playing and sleeping fine. FTM so I’ve never dealt with any of this before.
He hasn’t been around anyone else apart from DH and I for about 7-8 days - we’re fine and we lateral flow every 2 days so I’m fairly confident it’s not a covid situation.

How did you get on with 111?

I’d say it’s a cold, but it could be either. My LO got really chesty when he had a cold (and was teething) around 11 months and the GP said babies can be extra drooly/fluidy when they’re teething, which can also irritate their throats. But if you’re worried about covid, you might as well take him for a test anyway, just to ease your own mind.

@Williams3001 I’m really pretty confident it’s not covid. 111 yesterday told me just to keep an eye on him - didn’t sound like covid but also didn’t think it warranted him seeing a doctor. Was told to call back if he got worse and they’d get him a docs appointment. Worse early this morning so called back and was told they don’t think it’s covid and sounded more like a chest infection but he wasn’t allowed to see a doctor without having a covid swab done so we’re awaiting results just now.

🙄 Typical. I hope it comes back quick and you get a doctor’s appointment soon x

@Williams3001 Thank you! Hoping they come back soon - the poor wee guy is miserable. He won’t settle down to sleep tonight at all unless he’s being held so it’s going to be a long night in this house 😴
