Baby with chicken pox

Hi, my 6.5 months has got what I'm 100% sure is chicken pox. Started with what looked like a rash 3 days ago and then pimples. Now has them on her arms, legs, back etc... Has anyone else's baby had chicken pox so young? And how long did it last? I have a 2 year old and haven't noticed any spots on him yet but he did have a temp a few days ago that only lasted an evening after giving him calpol. Is it possible to have mild cases that could go unnoticed? Typical that we're meant to be going way at the weekend.

My ds had it at 6 months old. Tends to last about a week. Are the spots like blisters? They normally burst and crust over and they are no longer contagious once they have gone crusty.

Incubation period is 10-21 days and they are contagious for 1-2 days before spots and until they crust over.

Where do you think they got them from?

Thanks for your reply. Some are like blisters now and a few have already started to crust over.

My son goes to nursery 2 days a week. I received at email last week saying there had been a few cases. I've been checking my son for spots but it's my baby daughter who doesn't go to nursery ( or even inside the nursery) who has caught it. I'm wondering if my son is still in the incubation period and his spots aren't out yet.

Have you checked in his hair? Maybe he has had a mild case with only a couple of spots and has passed it to her. The only bit of the incubation period where they are contagious is a couple of days before spots appear.

Di you go to baby groups where she could have picked it up?

I haven't checked his hair. That's a good point. My baby goes to swimming classes and that's it.

Is it possible to only get them in your mouth? He's cried a couple of times while eating but I thought maybe teething. But couldn't see any new teeth.
