I know I always get overly anxious when my two year old gets ill which is why I’m posting to see if anyone has advice.

Have done an instant COVID test which is negative.

He has had a cold since last Sunday with just a snotty nose. Seemed well on tues/wed then Thursday vomited once in the night and sounded chesty. He’s got worse over the weekend has bad conjunctivitis in both eyes which pharmacist gave drops for, he’s so chesty and constantly coughing day and night which is waking him up. Hes got a temperature of 38.1 which was took underarm which I believe means 39.1? As last time he was in hospital I had the same underarm reading and there forehead thermometer read 39.1. He looks so poorly he’s drinking but barely eating.

Basically I’m wondering could it be a chest infection or just a bad virus ?

Student child nurse here. Is temp coming down with calpol/ibuprofen? Are they eating/drinking and passing urine. You know your little one best but aslong as they’re breathing okay, a normal colour, passing urine and temp is controllable , I wouldn’t worry too much until you get to GP. Keep an eye on them and if anything changes or they get any worse then ring 111. Hope they’re feeling better soon xx
