Moving on to cows milk

My DS is 10 months old and I've read that from 12 months babies should be transitioned onto cows milk and weaned off using a bottle! It has worried me slightly as he is only 2 months away from being 1! He is currently on 3 bottles morning, afternoon and evening of 7oz. I think the afternoon bottle will be the one to go next as he doesn't always finish it. What did all you formula feeding mums do? Any tips or tricks? He has whole milk in porridge and weetabix etc. First time mum here so any tips greatly received x

I don’t think it’s the type of milk it’s the bottle that’s maybe not great for teeth. Can he hold a tommee tipper type cup with meals?

Yep, get him used to a sippy cup. Offer water in it at mealtimes.

DD hated cows milk at first so we changed her gradually, so first was 25% cows milk and 75% formula then upped the cows milk. Within a couple of weeks she was fully on cows milk.

Put cow's milk in a sippy cup, he glared at me for a few days then realised milk was better than no milk.

Loads of people carry on with bottles after 1. Ds1 certainly still had it to nap for a long time when grandparents were looking after him. They were the ones who had to deal with getting him to sleep, so I felt they should do what worked for them. He didn't like cows milk to begin with, so mixed it with formula in increasing proportions, until he was used to it.

Just FYI, it doesn't have to be cows' milk (which is really designed for baby cows) Alpro do a great Growing up milk - with a giraffe on the carton. It's usually in the long life milk section in large and small cartons.

Has everything they need in eg. Calcium, not cruel and my kids loved it!

(Have researched this at length with dietician and doctor.)
