HELP! My LO had his first immunization at 8 weeks today and is really distressed.

He has been crying since 6pm and wont even go to the breast. If ever he is upset usually, i can just put him to the breast and he will calm down. He is crying even when i put him to me, and he has never donw that before.

I dont know how we can console him and feel awful!

Now i dont want to take him for his follow up jabs in 4 weeks time too.

Any advice would be really apriciated... i need to calm him down.

Do you have Calpol? If so give him some. What jabs did he have?

Does he have a temperature? I'd sleep near him tonight. Don't worry about the next ones you can do them on time, delay or not do them, but you don't need to decide now.

Crying etc is quite common after the jabs so try not to worry too much.

Does he have a temperature also? I assume you were told the reactions to look out for to the vaccinations. If he is still crying now, you might want to phone the out of hours doctor to have him checked - so that they note a reaction to the vaccine.

It's horrid I know. DD had a bad reaction to the 5-1 jab.

We found that the first one was the worst - none of the other rounds ever produced quite as bad a reaction.

(I would also second calpol - not that by now I imagine you need it)

my dd was like this after her 1st jabs and i agonised for weeks wether to let her have her 12 weeks 1s (shes 16weeks now) my dp took her 4 them yesterday and she was fine all dad x

How is he today. Any prolonged crying and you should take him to a GP as it could be a sign of a more serious reaction.
You can delay the next lot as long as you want or not give them at all. My 4 are unvaccinated.

Thanks to everyone who posted, Little one calmed down after 3 hours and a dose of calpole. He is a little hotter then usual and slightly grumpy today but all in all much better and feeding well.

Glad he's feeling better, DS did a similar thing after his first one but was fine for the following two.
