Toddler refusing to wear pants or nappy

2 years 9 months. Tried potty training a month ago but abandoned it. Today he is refusing to wear a nappy, keeps taking it off, when I try pants he cries for nappy. He's never worn pants always just refused to have them on (crying, pulling away)
I could get the potty out today but I need him to wear a nappy for bed later and he has to wear pants eventually 😭 he's funny about trousers too he's always taking his socks and trousers off daily, does it sound like a sensory thing?

A lot of potty training methods suggest bare bum initially anyway. When they get the hang of it like that add trousers/shorts/skirts. When they get the hang of that add pants. That’s what I did with my third and it worked for us. But having had a bit of bare bum time we did get shorts taken off a lot. To get the nappy on at naptime and bedtime we called it a sleeping nappy and he accepted that. Good luck. Potty training is my most hated parenting job.

I did naked waist down when we tried last time and luckily he accepted the nappy back when we gave up but I'm concerned that he's a pants refuser and the longer I let him go bare the worse he'll be at wearing them. He only wears a certain type of nappy too , if its not the Tesco one with a bee on it he won't wear it

Could he just go commando?

He did probably 50/50 wees on floor Vs potty yesterday. Today he's just saying no everytime I try him on potty. I will get a sticker chart see if that helps. He keeps weeing standing up everytime he goes on the floor, wonder if he'd like a stand up potty 🤔

I don't think he'd wear shorts without anything underneath. I'm beginning to wonder if he has problems with sensory stuff recently, if his shirt gets wet in any way even a splash he won't keep it on and certain ones he seems to not like the feel of

Also he seems to have mastered poos before wees! Past 2 days he runs to bathroom and hovers worriedly and asked for a nappy so I said here we go let's try the potty and he went on it both times with no worries. Need to master wees in the same way 🤞

So he's wee'd on my knee twice now, I asked him 15 seconds earlier will you sit on the potty he said no and pushed it away then weed on me 😭
