DS went for an Opticians appointment today and the optician found he had a raised optic nerve in one eye. Sent us straight to the eye department of the hospital, they took lots of photos, said the nerve wasn't bleeding and it was functioning as it should, it was however raised. They said we will receive a letter in the post with an appointment for imaging, which surprised me. The optician said it was serious and we needed to attend hospital straight away. They said it could be something innocent (calcium) or it could be something sinister. They wrote query papilledema on the paperwork. No other symptoms. Any experience? I have Googled it and frightened myself.
