Post your woes (or joys) here if you're currently tackling 2 kids under 2 (please say i'm not alone!)

DS1 is super wingey today and driving me batty...the slightest thing and he's whining and crying.

Have managed a 10 min walk with pushchair to get out of house. DS1 watching far too much TV, i haven't brushed my hair and the dog won't stop barking.

I need some gin.

You're not alone! (no barking dog, but a cat who has fleas which I never get around to sorting out...)

Both my two are sick at the mo'. So a walk is out. DS has reflux and DD just threw cereal around the room.

I'm more of a vodka woman myself.

I dont quite have the 2nd one yet (but will have next thursday) and i have a ds who is 19 months so ive got a very strong feeling i'll be back to join you in a couple of weeks

3missyshohoho · 04/12/2007 15:58

2 under 2 here! Well 2 and a few weeks and nearly 9 months old - both girls - both seem to do a pact with each other that they can be good girls for some of the time then they tantrum/whinge/shout/cry both at the same time and just at the time that I am the most shattered....

Grrrl I sooo understand - minus the dog though lol!

ChaCha · 04/12/2007 17:38

Well, I had 2 under 2 until yesterday as it was DS1's 2nd birthday. DS2 is almost 10 months old and I just found out yesterday that I'm PG with DC3 - so should be coping with 3 under 3 in 2008.

Great idea for a thread, just what i need.

Oh...and a cup of tea here please

rony · 04/12/2007 18:05

I have a just 2 year old and 7 month old who is currently having teething hell. oh and dh is away all week and they were both up at 5 am this morning.

but it's my birthday tomorrow and MIL is having them while I go for a facial, yay!!

3missyshohoho · 04/12/2007 19:56

Hi all!

Samja · 04/12/2007 20:02

Hello there, great thread! DD1 is 18 months and DD2 is 12 weeks. Have dd2 in mei tai sling so I can do toddler stuff and feed at same time but, she's getting too big for it - AAAAArgh! Not sure how to multi task without it.

Oh, and mine's 6 pints of Stella - if you're asking.

Samja · 04/12/2007 20:07

I sympathise GrrrlWith2Boys, I hate it when both start whining at the same time. God knows what the neighbours think, and then the cat starts vomming on the carpet......

Bella23 · 04/12/2007 20:08

wow great thread !!

I have 2 DDs
One is 14 months and the other is 6 weeks.

Feel so on my own some days as its just such hard work with getting up in the night.

Managing to get though it though with large glasses of red wine !!

Bella, I found 6 weeks very hard too. With on DC you can have a nap in the day but with 2 it feels like all the planets have to be in alignment for that to happen. I'm so glad that dd1 has started to nap again. Couldn't survive without it.

My phone bill is going to be enormous - the loneliness of a long distance mother!

3missyshohoho · 04/12/2007 20:19

Glug glug.... with you bella on that one!

Bella23 · 04/12/2007 20:22

tell me about it !! When DD1 is down for a nap DD2 is screaming for food - today I barely managed to eat!!

Yes me to - my Mum lives 200 miles away up north! She stayed with us for 5 weeks when DD2 was born and when she left I wondered how I would cope. I just have to remember the night feeds won't last forever!!

Where abouts do you live?

jingleoooggs · 04/12/2007 20:26

I have 2 under 1 or 3 under 4 [big] I find it hardest at witching hour, just after tea until asleep, especially every other week when dh works 3pm - midnight.

buddum · 04/12/2007 20:41

hello fellow sufferers - I have DD of 20 months and DS of 9 weeks. No dog but 2 cats who seem increasingly narked about the noise and general chasing / tail pulling that goes on.

Think we should all post our top tips for survival...

So I will kick off....

To survive the post dinner-pre bedtime NIGHTMARE single handedly I recommend a TV in your bedroom. Toddler can snuggle up with you under the covers whilst you feed the baby and stay brilliantly, utterly silent whilst you then settle the baby to sleep.

Any more?...

jingleoooggs · 04/12/2007 20:57

I can't think of any survival tips maybe I'm not surviving

ayrshirelolo · 04/12/2007 22:01

Hello!!!! I've got one dd at 18 months and am currently 32 weeks pregnant... and still working full time but have a feeling things are only gonna get worse! Just wanted to say hi, and i'm going to need some advice soon! (and i'm very of all the alcoholic references... tongue hanging out for a HUGE gin!!)

Samja · 04/12/2007 22:12

A sling for the early bit if planning to feed on demand, is my only tip. It also puts off the need for a double buggy although we gave in and got a phil & teds.

Not being house proud would be my other tip. My friends are now used to the kitchen floor being a mess and they expect to make tea, hold baby, play with DD1, etc. Only MIL came to stay and sat on arse while I ran around!

But mostly I'm not sure that I am surviving jingleoooggs!

Any top tips for when 2nd one gets less squidgy and needs more stimulation?

Early morning bump! Jingle I call that time of day the witching hour also! lol! My non baby friends just laugh when I call it that but little to they know! Both have just got me up at 5:40 zzzz

shoshaliteupthetree · 05/12/2007 06:45

Can I just say how amazing I think you all are, I am a CM with 3 under 22 months, but mine all go home at 5 o'clock!

WriggleJiggle · 05/12/2007 08:23

Helloooo! 2 under 2 here, and 2 dogs!. dd1 has been poorly for the past week, dd2 has just started being poorly yesterday.

The bit I love most is when (walking the dogs) dd1 has a temper tantrum because she wants a carry / to go the other way, whilst dd2 in the sling screams for food, dog 1 disapears in the undergrowth and goes awol, and dog 2 takes a dislike to another dog .

GrrrlWith2Boys · 05/12/2007 09:52

Well i had a gin- needed it after a dreadful trip to supermarket. DS1 kept swiping DS2 in trolley and scratched his face. I ended up carrying DS2 for his own good.

It's not all bad, i love them both to bits, and i'm doing quite well. DS1 is being quite difficult at the moment with scratching and shrieking, but it will pass...otherwise more gin for me!

Taking them to playgroup later. Hoping DS1 not going to claw kids eyes this week!
