I’m writing this as my husband try’s in vain to settle out 10wk old bk to sleep have been up from 2am as she has been the last 3 nights.

Now my LG has had bad reflux and colic 3-7 weeks seemed to settle. She has however always been an excellent night sleeper. Sleeping from about 9-9:30-3-4am. Which I know is fantastic. However the last 3 night as soon as she goes to bed at 9 she will have maybe 40mins peaceful sleep then squirm like not tomorrow until she finally wakes about 2/3am and then that’s it’s our days has started she will NOT go back to sleep. Tried feeding (bottle fed) winding rocking shushing literally everything. Now I know sleep patterns will not be established yet but I just can not see how this has happened literally overnight!

She’s showing no signs of being unwell. I do suspect she might possibly be teething as her hand is never out of her mouth. HV is absolutely useless offers not helpful advice whatsoever.

Please does anyone have any advice!

10 weeks is very early for teething (though not unheard of) - hands in mouth is just something they learn around that age.

Was/is she medicated for reflux?

RtIouTHe · 13/09/2021 08:17

@Vicky1989x No wasn’t medicated but is on carobel which altered her right out she’s been great. We did get given some MAM anticolic bottles which we have been using the last couple of days/nights now I don’t know if it’s a coincidence that she’s gone like this following the switch or I’m jus tooling for some explanation. We uses dr brown previously. Going to go back too using them.
I know sleep will still not be established but last night was the worst yet only managed 30 mins between 2:30am and now! X

@RtIouTHe I would change the bottle back and continue with the carobel. It sounds like the reflux could still be the problem! My DD never got on with MAM, they gave her awful wind so could also be wind causing the problem.

Hand in mouth is also a sign of wind/tummy pain.

RtIouTHe · 13/09/2021 08:25

@ thanks will definitely be going back to dr brown! We still use the carobel. Just hoping for a better night tonight! X

@GoodnightGrandma didn’t know that. Hopefully it’s just the bottles then. As I say she’s always been a fantastic night sleeper. She was also sick twice last night and she’s only ever been sick once in the night since she’s been born so hopefully last night was just a bad case of wind! X

Have a look on YouTube at the Tiger in the Tree Hold. Not guaranteeing it will settle her next time she's uncomfortable but it usually works.

Will she settle if she's in bed with you?
