Swapping nursery days

My little boy goes to nursery Tues, Wed and Thurs and I go to work. I've been invited to attend a work training event one Friday at the end of November. I would love to go as it would enhance my future prospects but we don't have anyone to ask to cover childcare and my husband has no annual leave left. Friday is a quiet day at the nursery. Would it be okay to ask nursery for my little boy to attend Friday instead of one of the other days as a one off? He only started in July so I'm new to this.

Depending on policy they may swap may charge tge extra day

Always worth asking

ArnoldBee · 12/09/2021 17:02

You can ask but you'll probably end up paying for an extra day.

You can ask.
The nursery i used to use would let me if she had enough staff in etc

Yes fine to ask, just use as extra day. Nursery’s don’t tend swap as such it would be to much without wanting chop and change from week to week.

NuffSaidSam · 12/09/2021 17:07

You can certainly ask. The worst they can say is 'no'. If they can't swap it they may be able to take him, but you'll have to pay for a other session.

Mine would try and accommodate, ask you won't know until you do!

My nursery lets me have one off days and they obvs charge for the extra day. They don't do swaps.

T0rt0ise · 12/09/2021 17:15

I've always paid for any non-set days (don't think they want people to make a habit of chopping and changing which is fair enough).

My nursery can often allow an extra day but they don't like to swap the days as such. All dependent on the nursery.

Hardbackwriter · 12/09/2021 17:16

Like others our nursery would happily have him in if they had space that day but it would be as an extra session, not a swap.

Imicola · 12/09/2021 18:30

Our nursery doesn't usually offer swaps, i guess as it has the potential to result in chaos if everyone realised it was possible! However, when I was in a similar position I asked and they agreed as a one off. So no harm in asking, but it is possible they may say no.
